P.A.I (Poly Amide Imide) Torlon®
Essentially a polycondensate of imide chains with aromatic diamines, this unique material orginally from Amoco Performance Products is manufactured by phosgenation of trimellitic anhydride and reaction of the acid chloride, with 4,4'-diaminophenyl methane in N-methyl pyrrolidone at room temperature.
Available in primarily rod and sheet Torlon® is available in the following grades:
