Ekonol®

Ekonol® is a wholly aromatic polyester resin and when combined with P.T.F.E, it produces a composite material that has excellent temperature stability and wear resistance.

This blend will not wear metal surfaces, particularly brass and aluminium and it resists self -wear better than any other P.T.F.E blended material.

Excellent solvent resistance with the exception of concentrated sulphuric acid and strong alkalis. Outstanding wear resistance and self-lubricating properties combined with a very low thermal expansion make this a unique filled grade of P.T.F.E.

By comparison with virgin unfilled P.T.F.E Ekonol® can be characterised by the following properties:

• Very low creep
• Increased stiffness and hardness
• Very low elongation
• Extremely low coefficient of friction
• Very high Pressure - Velocity limit
• Very good chemical resistance
• High dimensional stability
• Corrosion resistant
• High thermal transfer
• FDA approved of direct contact with food

Fields of application:
Compressor rings, "O" rings, spring-loaded seals, continuous rings, piston rings, self-lubricating bearings, rotors or vanes of process pumps, electronics parts requiring high thermal transfer, slide bearings, bushes.
